8.2 will hopefully be running an abseil event on behalf of the Royal Manchester Children’s hospital at the Hyatt Regency Hotel, Manchester in the autumn of 2020.

This event was a huge success in 2019. The venue is magnificent and the abseil challenging.

If you want to get involved search for Humphreys Heroes Abseil or follow this link

If you are thinking of completing a charity abseil event, it can be really helpful to look at some footage of previous charity abseil events as part of your preparations – there are loads of videos available on Youtube – and this can give you a close up view of what you can expect on the day.  By clicking on the links below, you will be able to watch some short films that some Hollyoaks and Coronation Street stars have posted about their experience of doing the Humprey’s Heros abseil event to raise money for the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital in the past.  Hopefully, this can help you to prepare your mind and body for an activity that is challenging!

On the day of your event, our fully trained 8.2 instructors will explain how to abseil and give you a brief practice on an abseil rope before the actual descent.  Most people overcome their fear of abseiling by concentrating on the task that is immediately before them; climbing a stairway, fitting P.P.E, climbing over a parapet, listening to an instructor etc. Our staff will assist you with this, but ultimately it is up to you to manage your fears. Abseiling events are very safe but certainly do not always feel like they are. This is the challenge and the reason for people being prepared to sponsor you!  The feeling that you get when you are safely down and have completed the challenge is amazing – you are on top of the world!
